q.beyond signs Diversity Charter and enshrines equality of opportunity in its management processes

  • Management and talent promotion build on openness to differences
  • Participation in Diversity Day and Diversity Challenge 2021

Cologne, 10 February 2021 – q.beyond AG has signed the Diversity Charter and become part of Germany’s largest diversity initiative. Under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, more than 3,800 companies, including 25 large DAX players, are supporting this commitment to diversity. Employees at q.beyond are getting involved with their own projects for Diversity Day on 18 May. Not only that, young staff who are currently pursuing a dual study programme at q.beyond are also entering their ideas for the Diversity Challenge organised by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

“Differences enrich us“

“By signing the Charter, we are underlining our commitment to diversity of opportunities and ideas”, explains Jürgen Hermann, CEO of q.beyond AG. “We do that by showing our appreciation of differences. They enrich us and our actions.”

As well as participating in the Charter campaigns, q.beyond is enshrining the value of diversity in its management processes and internal programmes. The IT service provider is training its managers to deal sensitively with differences and cherish these. q.beyond is promoting its talents in a newly launched programme that seeks out differences rather than always calling for the same skills.

More women in IT careers

q.beyond is also inspiring ever more women to choose a career in IT. On average, women account for only around 16 percent of Germany’s IT workforce. Across the European Union as a whole, the share of women is scarcely higher at 17.9 percent (according to eco and eurostat). In the first half of 2020, women made up 21 percent of new staff at q.beyond. By the second half, this figure had already risen to one third. To support women’s subsequent careers at the company, “People & Culture”, q.beyond’s HR department, is planning a bespoke programme to promote female managers. By offering special support programmes, q.beyond is also promoting diversity and equality of opportunity among the next generation of IT specialists and its training activities.

q.beyond awarded “Top Employer” status in Germany

This approach is reflected in the recent awarding of “Top Employer” status to q.beyond in Germany. Independent experts at the Top Employers Institute single out companies worldwide to acknowledge the excellence of their HR activities. One focus of the stringent certification process relates to measures and structures aimed at promoting diversity at the company. “This award challenges us to pursue ambitious targets and keep moving ahead on the diversity front too”, adds Jürgen Hermann.
